How do you choose the right zipper for your project?
Start with the job. Dress and skirt seams usually want a #3 invisible or closed-end coil zip that hides in the seam; jackets and hoodies need a separating zipper with a box-and-pin slider so they open all the way; jeans and bags lean on chunky metal or #5 molded teeth. For bag-makers, #3 nylon coil suits pouches, wallets and inner pockets while #5 handles totes, fanny packs and main openings. Watch the size number (the teeth width in mm zipped), the tape color, and the slider finish, plus whether ends are open, closed, or two-way. Continuous tape by the yard lets you cut exact lengths and add your own pulls, handy for repeat bag patterns. Expect single zips around $1-$4, 5-packs $6-$18, and metal or YKK separating styles $4-$12 each. Many makers ship in 2-5 business days; custom-length or hand-dyed orders run 1-2 weeks.
Use the filters for size (#3, #5), type, length and color, or tap a related search to jump straight to coil, metal or by-the-yard tape.
