Which blank tile fits your craft?
Match the tile to your medium first. Unglazed bisque ceramic takes underglaze and ceramic paint, then needs a kiln firing, so buy it only if you fire your own work or have studio access. Glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles arrive with a sealed surface: use them for paint pens, alcohol ink, decoupage, or epoxy-coated coasters, and seal porous edges yourself. Dye sublimation needs tiles with a polymer coating, sold as "sublimation blanks" in glossy or matte finish, usually 3x3, 4x4, 6x6, or 12x12 inches. Mosaic makers want small 3/8 to 1 inch glass, ceramic, or stone chips, sold loose or by the sheet. Price bands run $0.50-$3 per single tile, $8-$25 for coaster sets of 4, and $10-$30 per pound of mosaic chips. Most stock blanks ship in 3-7 business days; pre-printed or personalized designs run 1-2 weeks.
