Question 1

How do I choose the right size electronics case?

Accepted Answer

Match the device's exact model or screen measurement first, since sleeves are cut to fit. Laptop sleeves are sized by screen (11", 13", 14", 15-16"), and a 13-inch MacBook Air won't sit safely in a 15-inch sleeve. For tablets and e-readers, confirm the generation too, because a Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Oasis differ in width. When unsure, give the maker the model name and ask for interior dimensions.

Question 2

What materials hold up best for everyday cases?

Accepted Answer

Full-grain leather and waxed canvas are the most durable everyday choices, softening and forming a patina over years of use. Wool felt is lightweight and shock-absorbing for laptops and tablets at $20-$50, while cork and vegan leather suit anyone avoiding animal products. For gaming controllers, textured vinyl skins resist sweat and grip wear. Check that zippers are metal and any snap or magnet closes firmly before buying.

Question 3

How much do handmade electronics cases cost?

Accepted Answer

Most handmade electronics cases run $12-$70 depending on size and material. Leather AirPods and earbud covers sit around $15-$40, padded felt and canvas laptop sleeves $20-$60, and monogrammed tablet or Kindle folios $25-$70. Vinyl controller skins and zip-up console travel cases run $12-$55. Personalization like monogramming or laser engraving usually adds $5-$15, and full-grain leather costs more than vegan or felt versions.

Question 4

Can electronics cases be personalized or monogrammed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most makers offer monogramming, name engraving, or embossed initials on leather and felt cases, typically adding $5-$15 and a few days of lead time. Laptop sleeves and tablet folios are popular for initials or a short name, while some shops print custom photos or artwork on hard tablet and console cases. Decide on the exact text and placement at checkout, and double-check spelling, since personalized items usually can't be returned.

Question 5

Do electronics cases protect against drops and scratches?

Accepted Answer

A well-made case protects against scratches and minor bumps, but cushioning varies by build. Look for at least a few millimeters of foam or felt padding inside laptop and tablet sleeves, a snug fit so the device can't slide, and a closed flap or zipper to keep dust out. Leather AirPods covers mostly guard against scratches and lint, while hard-shell tablet folios and padded console cases offer the most drop resistance.

Question 6

What occasions are electronics cases good gifts for?

Accepted Answer

Electronics cases suit graduations, new-job and back-to-school gifts, birthdays, and the December holidays, since most people own a device that needs protecting. A monogrammed laptop sleeve makes a thoughtful graduate or new-hire gift, leather earbud covers work as stocking stuffers, and a controller skin or console travel case is an easy pick for a gamer. Order monogrammed or made-to-order leather 1-3 weeks ahead of the date.
