Which lead refill size and grade do you need?
Lead refills are sold by diameter and grade, so match both to the pencil in your hand. Everyday writers use 0.5 and 0.7mm; 0.3mm suits fine technical work, while 0.9, 1.3, and 2mm feed clutch and sketch pencils. Grade runs from hard (2H, H) for crisp light lines to soft (B, 2B, 4B) for dark shading, with HB as the all-purpose middle. Tubes typically hold 12 to 40 sticks in graphite, plus colored (red, blue, green) and non-photo blue for illustrators. Budget $3-$15 a tube, or $18-$45 for multi-grade and artist sets. Most small suppliers ship in 3-7 business days; custom-labeled tins or bundled gift sets run 1-2 weeks. Check the diameter and grade printed on the tube, the breakage rating, and ASTM D-4236 non-toxic labeling if it's for a younger artist. Keep two or three grades on hand to change line weight without switching pencils.
Use the size and grade filters to lock in your diameter and darkness, then check related searches for color leads, eraser refills, and full pencil sets.
