How do you pick the right watch crystal?
Start with the measurement. Crystals are sold by outer diameter in millimeters, usually in 0.5mm steps from about 15mm to 41mm, so caliper your old crystal (or the empty case seat) before buying. Match the material to the job: acrylic (Hesalite) is cheap, warm-looking, and buffs out scratches, good for vintage divers and dress pieces; mineral glass is the budget-durable middle; sapphire shrugs off scratching for daily wear and Seiko-style mods. Then match the profile — flat, single or double domed, or box/armored with a raised step. Mind the thickness too: common options run 1.0mm to 3.0mm, and a too-tall crystal can foul the hands. For modders, listings often note AR (anti-reflective) coating, blue or clear, applied to one or both sides. Acrylic typically runs $5-$20, mineral $8-$25, and sapphire $15-$60+ depending on size, coating, and dome.
Use the diameter, material, and profile filters to lock in your exact fitment, and check the related searches for popular case-specific sizes.
