How do you choose the right crimp?
Crimps anchor flexible beading wire to a clasp or jump ring, so match the crimp to your wire gauge before anything else. Crimp tubes (commonly 1x1mm, 2x2mm, and 3x2mm) fold cleanly with crimping pliers and grip far more reliably than round crimp beads, which squash flat and suit light strands or repairs when all you have is flat-nose pliers. Read the inner diameter, not just the outer size: .014" wire takes smaller tubes, while .019"-.024" needs 2mm or larger. Sterling silver, gold-filled, and copper crimps fit fine jewelry; plated and base-metal multipacks cover practice and volume work. Crimp covers snap over a folded crimp to hide it as a neat round bead. Expect $4-$12 for a 50-100 count tube of sterling, $6-$20 for gold-filled, and $5-$15 for big base-metal assortments. Many makers ship in 3-7 business days. Buy the crimping tool and a few spare tubes; crimps are cheap, restrung necklaces are not.
