Question 1

How do I pick the right size in a girls' top?

Accepted Answer

Go by chest and torso-length measurements, not just the age number. Girls' tops split into toddler (2T-5T), little girl (4-6X), and big girl (7-16), and cuts vary maker to maker, so most list chest width and body length in inches. Tunics and peplum tops should clear the hip; crop tops should hit at or above the waist. If she's between sizes or it's a gift months out, size up a step for a full season of wear.

Question 2

Which fabric is best for an everyday girls' tee?

Accepted Answer

Cotton jersey is the everyday workhorse: soft, breathable, and machine-washable for school and play. Bamboo and modal stay cool for kids who run hot, while cotton-spandex ribbed knits give crop and tube tops their stretch and recovery. For ruffle and flutter styles, combed or ring-spun cotton pills less and keeps the flounce crisp. Skip stiff 100% polyester for daily wear; it traps heat and pills faster on active kids.

Question 3

What's the difference between a printed, vinyl, and embroidered design?

Accepted Answer

Screen print and direct-to-garment (DTG) sit soft against the cotton and flex when stretched, so they handle playground wear well. Heat-pressed and glitter vinyl feel slightly raised and can crack if machine-dried, so wash inside out on cool and skip high heat. Embroidered names and monograms are the most durable and dressiest, common on blouses and polos; they add a few dollars and usually 1-3 weeks of lead time.

Question 4

How much should I expect to spend on a girls' top?

Accepted Answer

Most personalized tops land between $12 and $48. Plan on roughly $14-$30 for a graphic or name tee, $20-$40 for a flutter blouse or ruffle tunic, $24-$48 for a kurti, and $12-$26 for a tank or crop top. Made-to-order embroidery, smocked detailing, or coordinated sibling sets push prices higher. Many makers offer multi-pack discounts on plain or basic-print tees.

Question 5

What tops work for a birthday, holiday, or photo day?

Accepted Answer

An embroidered name or age-number tee makes a keepsake birthday gift. For photos and dressier days, a smocked blouse, peplum top, or ruffle tunic over leggings photographs cleanly. Kurtis suit Eid and Diwali in bright prints and breathable cotton, and tanks or flutter tees cover summer and camp. Order anything personalized 2-3 weeks ahead so there's room for production and shipping.

Question 6

Are crop and tube tops appropriate, and what sizes do they come in?

Accepted Answer

Crop and tube tops are made mainly for tweens, typically sizes 7-16, and many parents layer them over a tank or pair them with high-waisted leggings or skorts for coverage. Look for stretch-ribbed cotton with good recovery and a hem that hits at or just above the natural waist. Adjustable or wider straps stay put better than thin spaghetti straps on active kids.
