Question 1

What size kids' top should I buy as a gift?

Accepted Answer

Size up one step to buy a full season of wear. Gender-neutral kids' tops run toddler (2T-5T), little kid (4-7), and big kid (8-12), and cuts vary by maker, so go by chest width and body length in inches rather than the number alone. Check the shop's measurement chart against a top the child already wears. A roomy tee gets months of use; a snug one is outgrown by the next growth spurt.

Question 2

Which tops are easiest to get on and off a toddler?

Accepted Answer

Look for a shoulder snap, envelope (lap) neckline, or a generous stretchy ribbed crew in sizes 2T-5T. These let the head clear without a struggle and survive squirmy dressing. Pullover crews work well once a child is past about size 5. For dressier looks, a polo with a two- or three-button placket and a button-down with a flat, tagless collar both stay comfortable through photos.

Question 3

What fabric is best for a kids' everyday tee?

Accepted Answer

Soft cotton jersey is the workhorse: breathable, machine-washable, and forgiving on busy days. Bamboo and modal stay cooler for kids who overheat, and combed or ring-spun cotton pills less over time. For colder months, French terry or brushed-fleece tops add warmth. Look for flat or cover-stitched hems and tag-free necklines, and skip stiff heat-transfer vinyl on pieces worn against sensitive skin.

Question 4

How much do gender-neutral kids' tops cost?

Accepted Answer

Most land between $12 and $48. Plan on roughly $14-$28 for a graphic or name tee, $18-$32 for a knit polo, $24-$48 for a button-down dress shirt, and $12-$22 for a tank. Made-to-order embroidery, organic or bamboo fabric, and coordinating sibling sets push prices higher. Many makers offer multi-pack discounts on plain tees, which makes them an easy group or birthday gift.

Question 5

Can I personalize a kids' top with a name or age?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most makers add a first name, monogram, or birthday age number, and many match print or thread colors on request. Printed names on tees are cheaper and quicker; embroidered names read dressier on polos and button-downs and last longest. Confirm spelling and color choices in the listing's personalization box before checkout, since custom pieces usually can't be returned.

Question 6

Which kids' top suits a birthday, holiday, or photo day?

Accepted Answer

For dressy moments, a knit polo or a button-down photographs cleanly and pairs with shorts, leggings, or chinos. An embroidered age-number or name tee makes a keepsake birthday gift. Tanks and lightweight tees cover summer and beach days. Neutral tones suit any sibling lineup or group photo. Order 2-3 weeks ahead for anything personalized and check the maker's holiday cutoff in shop policies.
